Ava is a black-and-tan five-month-old girl who weighs 6.3 pounds. This little girl is full of attitude and puppy energy!

She's definitely not a lap dog and is constantly seeking out new adventures. She loves to play with toys and to run, play, and wrestle with her foster brother.

Ava in NC - resizedAva is most comfortable with people and dogs she knows. She likes familiar adults and older children, but she is somewhat aloof with visitors. She is pretty comfortable around some dogs, but she vocalizes fear around big dogs. She barks at strangers and strange dogs then runs for her foster mom. Ava does not like loud noises or being startled, but she does not mind thunderstorms. Although she is not a snuggle bunny, Ava does not mind being groomed.

Ava is crate trained and sleeps in her crate next to her foster mom’s bed. She is working on her house training, using exercise pens during the day. This athletic girl can climb gates and pens, so she must be supervised and not left alone indoors. She loves running around outside in a fenced yard.Ava in NC - Face - resized

Ava is food motivated and is making good progress with clicker training. She does not like to be picked up, and she changes course to avoid it. She is learning the command “Come,” and she is working on barking using the command "No barking" with positive reinforcement.

In her perfect home, she would have another dog for a playmate, an established routine, and a yard made for running.

Ava is being fostered in North Carolina.
