Three-year-old Nemo is a very calm and sweet 13-pound boy whose soft white coat has apricot-colored highlights. Nemo is quite mellow and laid back--he’s so affable, in fact, that he has the potential to be a therapy dog and visit people in hospitals or nursing homes.
Nemo is leash trained and mostly house trained, and he’s trained to use a pee pad. He does not like to be in a crate. He doesn’t love to be groomed, but he tolerates brushing pretty well. Nemo takes daily medication for a seizure disorder, and the medication controls his seizures, although not perfectly.
He isn’t athletic, and he isn’t interested in toys or playing with his canine foster siblings. He does not bark! Even when the other dogs are barking like crazy, he just watches them. He ignores the household cats. He likes to go for a walk, but his favorite activity is snuggling with his human; he especially likes to be held in the arms of his foster dad. Comfort being a top priority, Nemo thinks snoozing on the sofa or the bed is a good way to spend some time, and he sleeps in the bed with his foster parents at night.
Nemo is very food oriented. He has learned to sit before he’s given his breakfast and dinner, and he’ll sit for a treat. He is learning "stay" before he is given permission to approach his food.
Nemo would do best in a quiet home with one or two older adults. He enjoys human attention and would be happy as an only dog. Sudden movements and loud noises make him nervous, so a home with small children would not work well for him. Someone who is home most of the day and will take him out for a walk a couple times a day is preferred, even if he has a fenced-in yard.
Nemo is being fostered in Washington.
