Zoey is a petite sprite who because of her size and coat will likely look like a puppy her entire life. She’s 14 months old and weighs 7.5 pounds. Playful and happy, she delights in playing with her squeaky toys, exploring the yard, and hopping up on her human’s lap for a quick snuggle.
She thinks she's in heaven now surrounded by three Havanese foster brothers. She can take them on readily, despite being half their size. Her favorite game with them is playing Catch Me If You Can--and they can't!
Zoey is house trained, leash trained, and crate trained. She rides beautifully in a car crate, and she sleeps in a crate next to the bed, but she used to sleep in the bed with her owners. Her health is excellent, and she takes heartworm preventive once a month.
Zoey has always been a shy pup around strangers and in new environments, but she is making great strides in her foster home. She is really smart and responds quickly to commands. She owns all the socks in the universe (and all the Kleenex, too), and she is learning to surrender them to "Drop it!" and receive a treat in exchange. On her walks, she now sits on command and does not back away or growl and bark at strangers. She is slowing warming up to the neighbors, but children are still a little more than she can handle.
Miss Zoey is looking for a calm household with someone home most of the time. She would do best in a home with at least one other well-socialized dog she could mimic and wrestle with, no small children, and a patient family who would help her feel safe and be willing to work on her fears.
A fee will be requested to adopt this dog. The recommended fee amount will be based on the dog's age, and medical and behavioral issues, if any. A completed application is required if you are interested in adoption. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
