Bertie is almost a year and a half old, neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and approximately 12 lbs. He came to HRI from a commercial kennel in Missouri. He is extraordinarily sweet and affectionate with everyone despite his background.Right now, Mr. Bertie's haircut makes him look like a Schnauser, but he's 100% Havanese. You can see from the photo at the bottom that Bertie's coat was in such poor condition that he had to be shaved down. he will be very beautiful once his coat grows in!
Because he was in a kennel, he is still working on his housebreaking, but he is coming along. He will continue to need help in that area and he will need a patient new family as he adjusts to a new home.
Bertie loves to play with toys and fetch, absolutely adores playing with other dogs, and he also loves to snuggle. He will need another dog in the home to help show him the ropes, and so he has a playmate. Bertie is generally about two inches away from his foster mom – he’s very Velcro!
