Redford is a handsome young guy who loves the outdoors and cuddling in a lap - not necessarily in that order. Redford is an incredibly sweet and friendly dog - everyone he meets is an immediate pal. Redford is well mannered, efficient on his walks and puts himself to sleep in his crate at bedtime. What is not to love?

Redford began developing cataracts when he was between 2 and 3 years old. After two evaluations it has been determined that he is not a candidate for cataract surgery due to the age of his cataracts. He has some sight remaining and can navigate around furniture. He is quite successful at following his foster mom and his Havanese foster brother around the house.

Redford is on daily eye drops to maintain what sight he has. There is a chance Redford will continue to lose sight and may become totally blind, but there is also the chance his cataracts will reabsorb. Either way he can still lead a happy and healthy life, as those of us who have lived with blind dogs can attest to. A home with another small dog and a stable routine can provide Redford with an environment in which this sweet boy will thrive. The affection and sweetness he will provide far outweighs the lifestyle adjustments he requires.

Redford Aresized

Redford has made great progress with potty training during his time with his foster mother. He is on a set schedule with great success - getting right down to business when taken outside.

Along with another dog that can help guide him, a one level home or a home with stairs that can be blocked off would also help this little guy as he can’t and won’t do stairs on his own. Also high on this little nature lover's list is a securely fenced yard so he can safely roam and enjoy the outdoors.

Redford Bresized.

Redford is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.
