House trained
Very active
If ever there was a dog whose eyes sparkled with curiosity about what is going on in his world, it’s Simon. This delightful young dog is both house and crate trained and is working on leash training. He’s quite active and curious so he needs enrichment and engagement with his people. A fenced yard is great, but he needs more than just that. Simon loves going on walks of 1.5 to 2.0 miles at least once a day. He’d probably thrive in obedience class or agility. He also has a penchant for getting into things he shouldn’t, so he needs supervision, even in a fenced yard, to keep him out of trouble.
Simon has some separation anxiety. At this time he’d be best in a single family home because of his barking, which his foster family is working on. He also has some car sickness, which they’re addressing with Dramamine and meal timing.
Simon’s foster mom describes him as a love bug. He loves men, women, children and other dogs. He hasn’t met any cats so we don’t know how he would interact. Simon is respectful of the cues his canine foster siblings give him when he has pushed some boundaries. He’s a smart dog and takes their corrections appropriately.
Without question, Simon’s favorite activity is walking! He gets very excited when he sees the harness coming out. He needs to lose some weight which should happen pretty easily, as long as any potential adopter is committed to taking him on at least one walk a day. Two would be much better.
Simon’s previous owner said that he can’t be trusted with toys, blankets or bedding in his crate because he will shred them. So far, Simon has done really well with both toys and bedding while being supervised. The toys are a great form of enrichment for him.
If you’re looking for a great walking buddy or have always hoped to get involved with your dog in agility, obedience or rally, Simon might be a great fit for you and your family!
