Clifford could not be a sweeter dog! He follows his foster-dad around the house, plays fetch, goes on runs with him- in fact Clifford LOVES runs and walks, and definitely needs them, as he is one high-energy pup. On the flip side, he'll seek his foster-mom out for some snuggling on the couch and is the true lovebug Havanese.
Clifford is longer than he is tall, about 15 lbs and could still use some weight on his bones. He is voraciously hungry and, bless his heart, literally licks the food bowl after he wolfs down his food. He had been left tied in a backyard, before coming into HRI, and the vet guesses he is between 1-2yrs old. Right now he really does seem more like a puppy than an adult dog in his play, his mannerisms and even his cry.
He is wonderful with people and young children and gets along with other dogs pretty well. He still needs some reinforcement in the sharing of toys and food with the other dogs though, but he is working his way through that. He is young, very bright and wants to please! His manners are coming along, he sleeps quietly in his crate at night, but wants to be with his "people" during the day. Clifford's first bath and grooming brought out the soft, beautifully cinnamon colored, healthy coat that he is proudly sporting, and he behaved very well during his spa treatment, too!
Clifford's housetraining is coming along, he's smart and has it figured out, all it takes is for the human to remember to take him out at this point. A fenced yard would be great, but not essential. It's the walks that he yearns for. His first time in a safe backyard, he ran around and explored, loved rubbing his back into the grass and looked happy and carefree for the first time.
His foster family has been working diligently with him, giving him the love and tools he needed to become the perfect, loving family pet. He's like a sponge, soaking it all in, and is looking for that special family without cats, that wants to give him what he deserves - attention, walks and lots of loving.
Clifford is being fostered in NC.
