riley_face_smallEveryone knows the many attributes of the Havanese, a few of which are: Velcro breed, fun loving, resilient, sweet and loving, affectionate, and happy –go- lucky to name a few.  Two year old Riley apparently knows about these attributes as well.

riley_face_He craves the attention of his foster mom (she says that’s all he wants), and will happily sit in her lap for hours to cuddle as long as he can convince her to stay put!  Riley is a very sweet dog and will follow his mom from room to room.

Riley has been adjusting very well in the short time he’s been with HRI.  He is very playful and has energy to spare sometimes even getting underfoot as he frolics through the house.  He loves to run with his foster brothers and sisters and never seems to tire! riley_in_grass

Riley is very playful and enjoys playing with other dogs.  He loves to wrestle and play at least an hour every night with his brothers and sisters, and throughout the day as well.  He’s an active dog, so he’ll need someone willing to give him lots of exercise and play time.  He’s a good jumper (maybe an agility dog?).

He also enjoys his toys, especially the noisy ones.  Riley throws them in the air and plays catch with himself, squeaking them as he tosses and catches in the air.  He will get up to follow his foster mom when she leaves a room, grabbing a toy along the way!  He makes piles of them for himself, and his foster mom always makes sure he has at least one in his crate at bedtime if he doesn’t do it himself.

His foster mom is working on his barking as he gets very enthusiastic when a doorbell rings.  She says he’s doing much better as he feels more comfortable and confident in his environment.  She reports that Riley adapted almost immediately!   Riley is crate trained, and sleeps in his crate at night.

It seems Riley is housebroken and will usually go to the door and ask to go out but he’ll need someone to show him where he’s supposed to go.  He is learning to walk on a leash and at first it seemed very strange but he’s slowly getting better.  Riley also loves his food very much.  He’s a good eater, not picky.

Riley loves kids, and craves the affection and attention they offer.  He had been crated for extensive periods in his life, so he is enjoying all the freedom, attention and affection he can get.  All Riley wants is to be loved and he gives it right back.

Riley will make an amazing pet for a family looking for a sweetheart.  Some of his wishes will be a family with someone home most of the day, at least one doggie to play with, lots of toys, fenced yard, and most of all a family willing to give him a lot of loving.
