Chance1_smfaceChance has some very typical Havanese traits, and one of course is he loves to sit in a lap and watch TV with you (Chance and his foster brother have to negotiate who sits where on the foster mom’s lap and when!).  He has a special fondness for Animal Planet when they show any dogs. He also has an unusual habit in that he likes to wash his face with his front paws like a cat and it’s very cute to watch.

He Chance1He does not like his face dirty! Chance is about 3 years old, weighs about 11 pounds and is a little thin but with his voracious appetite and liking treats, he should gain some weight very quickly.

Chance does not like his feet wet, but he especially doesn’t like collars or harnesses. His foster mom is having to work with him and says they are pretty much the one thing that scares him most. With time and patience Chance will learn that they aren’t so bad and lead to fun walks and many adventures. His foster mom is just getting to know him, and has lots to learn.

He loves to play tug with his foster brother, using a stuffed dog-toy and both are becoming great friends. He likes other dogs and gets along well with them as well. He will stay in his crate if scared, but otherwise prefers not to be in his crate. He knows “let’s go to bed” and hurries to his place for sleep.

Chance is a happy little boy, now starting to wag his tail. He seems to be adjusting very well in his foster home and getting more and more confident as time passes. Housetraining is going very well also. He likes to go outside but his foster mom will sometimes use potty pads. He’s a smart little boy.

Chance apparently had lots of changes these past few years, so he seems a little unsure and insecure in some situations.  Again, with patience, lots of love and consistency, he will learn to trust and gain confidence as his foster mom gently guides him along. Havanese are known for their resiliency, and we have no doubt Chance will make a wonderful companion for a very lucky family.Chance2

Chance is being fostered in Arkansas.
