Unflappable Bella found HRI with the help of another rescue group. She did time in a midwestern mill but she quickly showed her foster family that she is a true survivor with very typical Havanese temperment. The vet puts her at about 6-7 years of age and she is somewhat settled, needing a quiet forever home where people are home during the day. She would really like to have an older companion dog too!
Bella was a huge hit at the vet office during her check up; no fussing at all and she was referred to as a perfect, portable patient, albeit a heavy one! Bella weighed 13 pounds when this picture was taken but she's already lost some weight on the wonderful diet (she even eats green beans now!) and the great exercise she is getting with her foster siblings. She prefers to be with the other dogs and will bark to let her loneliness be known! She sleeps well in her crate next to the people bed at night and is already showing her willingness to please people. She will come when called, especially when there's a soft treat waiting. She quickly learned the word "pretzel" - a favorite treat.
Bella had her extensive dental work done and had some infections but now that she's healed she has more spring in her step and is a very good leash walker and an early riser.
Bella was caged for a long time so she is still working on her housebreaking. She sometimes prefers to go inside on a training pad and still needs to be confined if no one is home to watch her.
Bella is not a typical, traumatized mill dog at all but just lives in the moment and takes what life gives her. She just needs a forever home where people will love and accept her, respecting where she has been and what she went through. She loves to sit on the couch and hang out with her people and even has a gentle little snore during nap time.
Bella is being fostered in So. Central PA.
