Happy Beginnings

O'Malley is a Havanese mix, between 2-4 years old and weighs a solid 21 lbs. His hair is as soft as silk and he has white, black and a touch of brown in his coat. He has a very expressive face with big brown eyes and is very sweet and loving. He can also be tough with a little bit of stubborn mixed in.

O'Malley was a stray on the streets for at least 6 months and his foster family is helping him to gain confidence and a feeling of security again. He responds well to soft spoken approach and calmness in the environment, he loves soft spoken men and gets along well with most other dogs. He responds well to gentle encouragement and loves being caressed when he is ready, but he will often stand back and observe interaction between his fostermom and her other dogs until he is invited to join.

O'Malley LOVES lying on the back of the chair behind his foster dad's head with a toy. He devours food and tries to eat everyone else's (dogs). He spends part of the night in his crate but likes to sleep on the bed whenever he can. He LOVES toys, especially ones that squeak and can generally be found with one in his mouth or close by. He LOVES to go out and run around the yard, so a fenced in yard will be essential. He loves to sit and look out the front window and barks at anything that moves. He loves going for car rides!

O'Malley does fine on walks but is still working on getting comfortable with wearing a harness and a leash. He will be getting some extra training and behavioral work to prepare him for a new home in the near future.
