Ruby

Ruby came into the loving arms of HRI because her family felt that this adorable, little girl deserves more time and attention than they were able to provide. She is a happy, healthy & well adjusted 9 month old pup who weighs a delicate 10 lbs. ÊHer beautiful ears were a bit matted but after a stop at the groomer, she is sporting a new and fancy look that the groomer assures her will grow back quickly.

Ruby is truly a gem and has adapted beautifully to her foster family.  Her sweet personality shines through brighter each day as she discovers the joy of teasing her foster canine sister with every squeaky toy she finds.ÊHer favorite pastime, aside from lounging on the back of the couch, is riding in the car to discover someplace different to walk, meet new friends (four legged and two) and sometimes, she even gets a cookie!Ruby

Ruby has wonderful manners. She rarely barks, but if her foster sister gets excited, she joins in the chorus! This clever pup responds to several commands and has even learned to give her paw for a new favorite treat! She is housebroken, walks happily on a leash , and is crate trained. Ruby sleeps through the night in her foster parents bedroom with her "big sister" nearby. She seemed a bit frightened by the dark, so her foster mom kept a lamp on for the first few nights. Now she's content to "go to bed" in her crate without hesitation and enjoys the soft glow of a nightlight. Morning brings the thumping of her wagging tail while Foster Mom or Dad opens her kennel to start a new day.

When foster mom or dad have to run an errand, Ruby is perfectly happy to wait at home in the company of her foster sister. She is always at the door, bouncing up and down, to greet her foster family when they return home. Her foster mom and dad find themselves constantly scooping her up and showering her with warm hugs and lots of kisses.

Ruby is being fostered in South Carolina.

This dog is in our "Foster To Adopt" program, which means she's being fostered by his eventual adopters. Information on the program may be found here. Participation in this program may increase your chances of adopting a Havanese.
