Havi is an adorable 3 yr old Havanese that was born with a congenital heart defect that can not be repaired. Ssshhhhh, just don't tell Havi because as far as he's concerned life is all about having fun, getting as much attention as his audience can dish out and living in the moment!
Today Havi has no symptoms and he is doing excellent. He seems to have non-stop energy, his tail never stops wagging, and it's apparent that he's certainly trying to live life to the fullest and doesn't want to miss a beat.
Havi's cardiologist recommends a Beta Blocker that is inexpensive (Atenolol) to lower his blood pressure. Keeping his blood pressure down will delay cardiac failure and it's felt that Havi's life span could be another four to six more great years.
Havi is sweet, very loving and wants more than anything to please his foster mom and make her happy. He's begun to greet visitors appropriately and trying his very best to accept the resident cat but it's such a temptation to bark at the cat....lucky for Havi, the cat knows how to ignore dogs.
Havi's heart problems might be irreparable, but he can anticipate a good quality of life in the years that he does have. And finding a family where someone is home most of the time, that wants to smother him with love and attention is right on the top of Havi's "Bucket List"!
Havi is being fostered in Southern California.
