Update from her adoptive family:
Layla Twinkle

layla 3 head

Layla is a four-year-old beauty, weighing about 10 lbs. Her coat is a soft cream mixed with whites and golden tans and her lovely wavy hair is now growing in. Layla is feeling more and more comfortable in her own body, and is learning how to find a comfy spot on your lap. She sometimes takes her time finding just the best way to snuggle down, but once she finds a place to rest her body and head...she's there, as long as you'll have her there!

Layla needed to learn that being front and center attention was not necessary in order to be a happy dog and will do best in a home with a patient dog to show her the ropes of being a dog herself. She responds to happy voices and runs along side her Foster Doggie Brother to come get treats, pets, and snuggles.

Layla is adapting to her family leaving her alone for short periods of time. Because she's in the process of learning that going potty outdoors is best, she's crated when left home. And she is, oh so excited when her people return...often running in circles and ready to give lots of licks.

After a bit she settles down into the family routine and finds a spot to get comfy. One of her favorite things to do is follow her Foster Mommy everywhere she goes.

Layla loves women, (respectful and assured) older teens and a few select men. Her tail now wags for her Foster Daddy and accepting treats from him brings her into his presence.

Layla appears to have not been outdoors at all, before coming into HRI. The world is a big place for such a little girl, but now she's the first one out the back door to go potty, then explore. She's even shown her Foster Doggie Brother places in the backyard he never ventured towards before!! She's very inquisitive and has a wonderful sense of smell!! She is becoming more competent when being led by a leash for walks, both indoors and out.

Layla would like the world to know that to her, being a doggie means a soft place to snuggle (one of her favorite places to curl up when she's not in someone's lap is an stuffed elephant chair); a gentle approach to her learning about life outside a crate, and lots of assurance that she's a "good girl"...because she really is a sweetie pie! She is very aware of her name and responds to hearing it. She loves to run after stuffed toys and has really begun to understand what "play" is. She has lots of energy and uses her energy to run, jump, bark, and entertain her foster family.

Layla will bring beauty, appreciation for our four-legged friends, and a very fortunate home, many years of loyalty.

Layla is being fostered in Northern California.

A donation will be requested to adopt this dog. The recommended donation amount will be based on the dog's age, and medical and behavioral issues, if any.  A completed application is required if you are interested in adoption. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
