Peanut standing

Peanut is a gentle little soul who gets along well with everyone he meets – humans and other animals. His tail is almost always up and wagging!

Peanut has settled into his foster home well. He sleeps through the night, has learned his way around the house and garden, and is housebroken – understanding that potty is done outside. He also is respectful of the other dogs in the house, joining their activities or giving them their space as appropriate.

Peanut is a good eater. He eats his meals and licks his bowl clean when he is done. He enjoys a good treat now and then, like strawberries or cucumber slices.

Peanut does suffer from separation anxiety. He will howl, cry, bark, and whine when left alone. Peanut has been endowed with a very loud voice, so his separation anxiety is not a quiet event.Peanut on sofa

His foster mom is focused on working with Peanut to help calm his anxiety and teach him that separation is ok. This is training his adoptive parents may need to continue to work on. Additionally, Peanut has not been trained in basic commands like “sit” and “stay.” This too is an area his foster mom is working on and his adoptive parents will need to continue to reinforce.

Peanut’s foster mom has not observed him with children, so we cannot comment on how he does with children. However, anecdotally we have been told that he has been in homes with older children and seems to do fine. We cannot comment on how he does with younger children.

This gentle, happy soul will be a great addition to a home with fur parents who are home most of the time. He will wag his tail with joy and share all his love in the right home.

Peanut is being fostered in Maine.
