If you are looking for a super-fluffy, outgoing, and intelligent Havanese, Benji is your man. Four-year-old Benji is adorable: he has the look of a Havanese and the coloring of a Yorkie. He is also a very happy boy, smiling and waging his tail all day long.
Benji already knows basic commands -- sit, stay, and come -- as well as several tricks -- shake, sit up, and roll over -- and is house-trained. He's a smart little cookie, and teaching him more tricks will be a great way for him to bond with his forever family. In the short time he has been with HRI, he has already learned to use the doggie door: if you ask him, "Go potty, Benji?" he flies out the door, takes care of business, and flies right back in!
Benji loves other dogs and would do well with a doggie sibling. He would also probably do well with a calm child or older children in the house. He sleeps in his foster parents' bed with the other fluffers and sleeps through the night. Plus, he's not much of a barker.
Benji has had many ear infections and came to HRI with some skin issues as well, but with new medications both are healing nicely. However, he will probably always be prone to ear infections and may need medicine throughout his life as part of his normal grooming routine. Benji enjoys the ear massages, so it's not really a big deal!
Benji is being fostered in PA.
