Brooke is a 14-month-old energetic bundle of white fluff (except for a small circle of caramel coloring on her back). She will bounce up onto the couch, throw her front feet onto the back cushions and wag her tail while smiling until rewarded. She enjoys bounding across the backyard and exploring new places. She happily goes to her crate at bedtime and when her foster mom must leave the house for a while.
Brooke entertains herself with rawhide chews for hours or trying to get a small toy to squeak (she has been unsuccessful so far but she is determined!). When she has tired herself out, she will snuggle next to you on the couch or curl up under the couch by your feet.
Brooke comes from a closed puppy mill and is still working on "how to be a happy Havanese". She is working hard on house training and is crazy about her treat rewards. She gets along with other dogs but is very shy with new people. Even so, when she gets nervous, the best way to calm her down is to pick her up slowly and snuggle her.
Brooke will be working on sitting, leash walking, coming and staying over the next few weeks. In the words of Bob Seager, "she is in need of a few pounds" weighing only ten pounds, and is allowed to eat as much grain-free, fish based food as she can. When she accomplishes these skills she will be ready for her "furever" home!
Brooke has a severe heart murmur and will need to take medication daily. The present medication costs $4.00 a month plus she will need her vet to follow her condition.
Brooke is being fostered in FL.
