Ten-year-old Harley has a lot of favorites in this world. His favorite place to be is snuggled up close to his foster family so they can pet him, scratch his ears and rub his tummy.
He’d like you to know his favorite person in the world is his foster dad. His favorite activity is a close draw between riding in a car (oh the joy!) and going for walks (yippee)! He sleeps in a crate at night, but wants everyone to know his favorite place to sleep is in bed with his humans.
Harley has excellent leash skills. He is also very well house trained, though he despises the rain and actively avoids going outside when the weather ignores his wishes. He frankly can see no purpose in those raindrops.
Harley weighs 25 pounds, which he thinks just gives you more of him to love. He devotedly follows his people from one room to another and is interested in the outdoors only as long as a person is there with him. Harley would be very happy as an only dog as long as he has a family that knows he’s a true companion dog; he just needs his people! He’s okay with well-mannered kids as long as they’re petting him, but Harley has no interest in playing with toys or with humans so he’s much more companionable with adults.
Harley takes thyroid medication twice a day. It’s very inexpensive (probably less than a latte at your favorite coffee shop, and we all know a latte doesn’t love you back with the devotion of a Havanese!) He also needs a bath at least once a week to help with some skin allergies. He prefers having a shorter clipped coat to make grooming easier.
If you’re looking for a companion that’s got devotion down to an art form, Harley may be just the dog for you! He’d like an adult family that is home most of the time, that would love company in the car when running errands and who knows a dog’s place is up on the furniture next to you and dreaming alongside you in bed at night. He’s really hoping his forever family will love to take walks and explore the world with him. (If you have a New Year’s resolution to take a daily walk, Harley will happily help you stay on track!) He’s a senior dog who will respect your belongings and will never chew up a slipper or rip a hole in your stockings. He will, however, warm your heart and keep you company.
Harley is being fostered in Michigan.
