Gibbs is a gorgeous chocolate Havanese with cream highlights. This 14 1/2 pound boy will be 3 years old in February.
Gibbs is shy and does well in a calm family. He warms up more easily to women than he does to men. He's starting to show his Havanese personality and is very charming. He follows his foster parents around the house.
Gibbs gets along well with other dogs and looks to them for cues about how to respond in his foster home. He loves throwing toys into the air and catching them, but thinks it's most fun to do this with other dogs there to join in the fun.
Gibbs is working on house training. He will use a piddle pad if his foster family misses his cues that he needs to go out. They are trying to teach him to let them know if he needs to go out. He forever family will need to continue to work with him once he is adopted.
Gibbs is very food motivated and will happily dance on his back legs for a cookie. He also enjoys low calorie snacks like bits of apple or pumpkin. Gibbs loves mealtime. He knows what "hungry" means and will tell you just how to go about fixing his dinner.
Gibbs is learning to walk on a leash and is also learning the command, "leave it". He's good about being groomed and will stand on the grooming table patiently while he is combed.
Gibbs will be a charming addition to the right family. He would love a calm and patient family that will continue to work with him and let him know what is expected. Gibbs does well with a positive approach. He'd love to have another well-socialized dog in the family as well.
