Maile ( "Quiet" in Hawaiian) came to HRI from a Shelter in CO, painfully shy & timid. Over the past month Maile has developed into a whole new girl, actually quite social with other canines. Outdoors, she now prances around, her tail held high and she no longer runs, but walks about the garden with the other dogs. Exploring, then it's on to a new game of chase!
She really is just a sweet and now playful girl! On a trip to a park with the other dogs, Maile played and dashed around with the others in the water for an entire afternoon. She is learning about a whole new world, going on leash walks with her foster family, and gaining in confidence each day.
Instead of retreating to her crate, as she did in the beginning, Maile is now joining the family in the living room, settling down with the other dogs. 
She is becoming part of the family, slowly - at her own pace.
