PonchoHeadshotIt is difficult to have to post that this afternoon my precious foster, Poncho, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. He passed peacefully at home. I believe Poncho was the oldest Havie to ever be in HRI's care. He was a fantastic little guy, the perfect Havie in every way.

Poncho2Ive fostered several Havies before Poncho, but I learned so much from him. Not only are senior Havies wonderful to adopt, but they are also wonderful to foster. In the time that Poncho was with me and my kids he developed arthritis in his back, hips and knees, he went blind and deaf and developed the beginning of doggie dementia. Throughout it all, he adapted to each new issue as it came up with no complaints. At first he depended on his sense of smell and stayed close to one of my kids. As he adapted he was completely at ease with the loss of sight and hearing. I feel so blessed to have had Poncho in my home and in my life. He will live on forever in my heart.

Rest in peace, my beloved Poncho. I've attached two pics of the handsome little old man.
