Mandi and Max-A-Million are a pair of cream-colored cuties. Mandi is an eight-year-old girl (9 pounds), and Maxi is a two-year-old boy (10.6 pounds). Mandi is Maxi's mother. They are very bonded and are looking for a home together.
Mandi is a darling little girl. In spite of her last eight years living in a puppy mill as a breeder, she is the sweetest girl! She is very outgoing. She just wants to be with her little boy Maxi and to cuddle with her foster mommy.
Maxi is one very happy dog! He is playful and energetic, but he still has to have cuddle time with Mandi and with his foster mom. He is a joy to watch as he learns about his brand new life outside of a cage! He behaves like an 8-week-old when it comes to learning about grass and snow. Maxi loves to run in big wide circles, and he loves to wrestle. He is very calm when it comes to loud noises. Maxi makes everyone around him smile! He is really easy going and fun, fun, fun!
Both Mandi and Maxi are good with other dogs and with older children; we don't know how they feel about cats and small children.
Maxi has been neutered and Mandi has been spayed. They've both had their teeth cleaned, and Mandi had to have some pulled. Mandi is very healthy. She has evidence along her left and right hips of fresh hair growth, probably a result (says the vet) of some skin condition that has resolved. Maxi is also very healthy. Both take preventive heartworm medication and flea-and-tick medication.
Maxi is house trained; however, he doesn't yet understand how to ask to go out, so his foster mom takes him outside every 3 hours or so, which is working superbly. Mandi is working on her house training, which is going very well. Both are crate trained, and when their foster mom is not at home, they hang out together in their crate. They both love riding in the car in their car seats. They come to their names and they walk well on their leashes.
Max-A-Million has learned so much so far. He is curious and must be supervised because all of this freedom is new to him and he can get into mischief (e.g., pulling on power cords, pulling down bath towels). He will not leave the house without Mandi. Mandi is a very happy survivor, but she is very stressed when she is separated from Maxi. They do not eat separately; they will only eat out of the same bowl at the same time. They sleep together and play together. Both demonstrate fear of men, which is often true of puppy mill survivors. This will resolve with patience and understanding.
A fence is a must for Maxi. He really loves to run, so to allow him to meet this need he definitely needs a fenced area where he can safely do this. He just smiles from ear to ear as he enjoys his new freedom.
Mandi and Max-A-Million are being fostered in Ohio.
