Four-month-old Cody is as darling as he is busy, which is saying a lot! He weighs 6 pounds, most of it is fluffy coat and charm, but a wee bit of those 6 pounds is mischief, just the way a Havanese puppy should be.

You’d never believe it when watching him play, but Cody has a congenital heart condition called patent ductus arteriosis, or PDA. It’s treatable with surgery and he is expected to have a normal, healthy life. after he recovers from surgery. HRI is happy to have the opportunity to give Cody this chance and is raising funds for the surgical ligation to correct his PDA. Click here to help Cody.
Cody loves everybody he meets and is fairly certain the world is made up only of his very best friends. He happily greets people and gives them kisses. Cody also enjoys playing with other dogs. He’s hoping that one day he’ll get a loving and patient family of his own that even has another small dog that will enjoy playing with him.
Because of his age, Cody is still working on his house training. He’s learning to bark when he has to go outside to potty. Because his bladder control is still developing, he sometimes has an accident before his person gets to the door. He does best when he’s brought out every couple of hours. Cody is learning to walk on a leash, but his favorite thing is to run in the fenced backyard with his foster siblings.
Cody has a lot of spirit. He loves playing with other dogs and with his toys, but if he spots a suspicious Kleenex tissue, have no fear - he’ll take it apart before it can do any damage! He’s quite proud of his success rate, and Kleenex tissues in Ohio have learned to stay out of his way (or maybe his foster mom has learned to keep them away…)
Cody is being fostered in Ohio.
